Well it's that time to race again, my third Ironman for the year but it's probably the one I'm most excited to be at. It's been 10 years since I was last in Roth, Germany for the Challenge event. In 2002 I was here with my wife Jenny and our 9 month old son Braeden who learn't to walk here, Braeden is nearly 10yrs old and will be over taking his dad in height in a few more years. I'm also back with my homestay family who looked after me so well all those years ago, great food especially the Bratwurst sausages! I remember this race having incredible spectator support with some of the climbs on the bike course being like the Tour de France with thousands of people lining the streets.
There's a great field assembled for this years race which doubles as the ETU European Triathlon Championships. I'm hoping for great weather conditions come Sunday as I would love to go under the magical 8hr barrier after coming so close at the Melbourne Ironman in March. Tune in for race day coverage on the Challenge website where they will have TV, live footage and live updates throughout the day.
