Hot on the heels of Avanti’s Project Evo2 racing bikes wining both the best in category (Gold pin) and supreme (Purple pin) awards in the product discipline at last month’s Best Design Awards in New Zealand the brand has won an internationally coveted red dot award for product design at last week’s awards ceremony in Germany.
This year, 4,515 products from 58 countries and 1,800 manufacturers/designers (including the likes of Audi, Apple and other major global brands) were assessed by the red dot jury which is composed of 30 international design experts. They tested and evaluated all products live and on-site in Essen, Germany and due to the consistently high quality of all products submitted, they advised us that it was not easy for even their renowned experts to make a decision.
In the end, only the best of the top-class field of participants prevailed and the Avanti Project Evo2 was amongst them receiving the globally sought-after ‘red dot’ for its fine design language in the product category.
Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the red dot design award, pointed to the high quality level of the competition: “The most distinguished products of the respective branch of industry faced up not only to the tough competition this year again, but also to the critical eye of the jury. The experts thoroughly examined, tested and evaluated each individual entry applying the highest standards. With their performances, winners like Avanti did not only demonstrate an extraordinary design quality but they also showed that design is an integral part of innovative product solutions.”
Avanti’s Group Product Director, Kim Struthers, was excited for the team involved and the Avanti brand “receiving the New Zealand design awards was a hugely proud moment for all the team at Avanti and to now go on and win a coveted ‘red dot‘ on the global stage against such amazing competition is just superb. We are stoked. It goes to show you that the fact we design all our product in our office in Auckland is absolutely no barrier for us to compete on the international stage and design top world class product”.
He went on to say “watch this space, after 25 years of creating fantastic bikes under the Avanti brand we feel we are only just getting started and there are many exciting developments to come over the next few years”.
