Great week at UCI Juniors Track Cycling Championships - Over the weekend Avanti sponsored/supported riders took home a handful of medals

Taylah Jennings

Tayla Jennings – the golden girl of the week secured yet another gold medal in the Women’s Omnium race.  The Queenslander won all six disciplines over the two day competition, adding another gold medal to her collection.  Five World Championship titles in a two year period.  Impressive riding by the 18 year old during the week.

Racquel Sheath from Auckland secured her second medal of the championship – a bronze in the Women’s Omnium.  She is delighted with her results considering she achieved personal bests in every one of the six events except for the flying lap.

Sophie Williamson from Alexandra (supported by AvantiPlus Invercargill) also claimed her second silver medal in the Women’s Scratch Race.  Sophie was in a three way photo finish but due to the American being disqualified for not holding her line in the final lap, Sophie was moved into second spot.

All in all a very successful track champs and one that certainly showcased the talent that is emerging in both AU and NZ.
