A Team with High Expectations
PureBlack Racing launched in the winter of 2010, with a view to becoming New Zealand's first international UCI ProTour road cycling team.
The ultimate goal is to race and compete in arguably cycling's most prestigious and grandest competition - the Tour de France. In order to achieve these lofty heights the team competed in UCI's US Continental Tour during 2011 to gain not only invaluable experience but also accrue vital UCI points. In 2012 Pure Black Racing joined forces with BikeNZ to become part of the New Zealand National Cycling Team. The team is focused on racing in Asia, Northern America, Australia and New Zealand for 2012. Some of the U23 team is also going to be based in Belgium with BikeNZ to gain some valuable racing experience.
Team PureBlack grew organically from a domestic high performance team called Team Bici Vida whom themselves were catapulted onto the New Zealand scene at the PowerNet Tour of New Zealand in 2009.
PureBlack Racing is built around a core team of young riders hungry for success. With such a young, dedicated team, and a professional management crew behind them PureBlack Racing are sure to meet their own high expectations.
