Eight times NZ Ironman champ back on Avanti!

17 February 2010

Kiwi Ironman legend Cameron Brown will return to his roots as he climbs aboard his new Avanti Chrono Team in his chase for a ninth Taupo Ironman title in March. It’s a welcome return to the kiwi iconic brand for Brown after originally riding an Avanti Super Sprint back in the late 80’s when he got hooked on the sport of triathlon.

Brown, who has signed up with Avanti till 2013, is feeling fitter and faster than ever and super confident about the season ahead. In his first race on the Avanti Chrono Team a few weeks ago at the Kinloch Contact Tri he demonstrated his form, and that of the bike, by not only winning the event but also taking 5 minutes out of the competitors on the bike leg.

The team at Avanti are rapt to have Brown back on their bikes. Stephen James, Road Bike product manager at Avanti, said “Cameron is a world class athlete who has proven himself time and time again at the highest level and to have him riding the new Avanti Chrono is exciting. It clearly reflects how far we have come.” James, who is driven to make the Chrono the fastest TT bike on the planet, went on to say that he’s also “looking forward to having Cameron’s input on the development of future models of the Chrono. His experience will be invaluable in making it the quickest TT bike possible”.

John Struthers, Managing Director and founder of Avanti enthused that “it’s just fantastic to have Cameron on board and I cant wait to see him taking on the field at Ironman Taupo, I really believe that after 25 successful years of being designed down-under Avanti is in a great position to take on the world over the next 25”.

Brown was equally enthusiastic saying “it’s like coming full circle really, having started my career on an Avanti Super Sprint many years ago it feels great to be riding an Avanti again at this stage of my career. Obviously the bikes have evolved a lot and the Chrono is a real performance machine but the business still has that friendly family feeling and it’s inspiring to see a kiwi brand that started out 25 years ago with the production of BMXs really hitting their straps”.

Cam Brown

Cameron’s resume speaks for itself:
