Well its time to start racing!
Its been a long summer of training here in the beautiful Manawatu. But there comes a moment when its time to jump in the ring and go a few rounds. And no better time than when the best in the World come down to our shores to race in my backyard. I never would have thought when I started my professional triathlon career that I would be able to just jump in my car and drive to a world cup event from my own home. But this is the way the sport has panned out in New Zealand post Athens. So come Friday I'll be jumping into my Suzuki Grand Vitara, and heading west to New Plymouth for this sunday's World Cup event.
My training has been going really well and I'm looking forward to the race. As most of you know I like to race with my heart on my sleeve. And this week will be no different. I know the areas I've been working on over the summer months. And I'll be using it too apply any sort of pressure I can on the rest of the boys. Its clear after the first round of the world cup season in Mooloolaba that there are some boys on fire EARLY! in what is such an important year. But that is the nature of beast that we all know as the Olympic Games. The athletes that can manage themselves the best and be standing on the start line knowing there on the way up in 5 months time will be the ones that are pushing for the win.
I hope all of you enjoy the coverage of the race on sunday and you can be sure that sometime during the race I'll show my face.....but the money cards will always be close to the chest.
