AVANTI “DERELIKT” TYPE 1,TYPE 2 AND TYPE 3 MODEL BICYCLES
Defect & potential hazard:
Avanti Bicycle Company Ltd is conducting a voluntary consumer level recall on the
above products due to the possibility that the head tube may be prone to cracking
when used in certain circumstances.
In the interests of public safety, Avanti is conducting a voluntary recall of all potentially
affected bicycles pending further investigations.
Models affected:
The following bicycles in the Avanti “Derelikt” range are affected:
• 2006 – Derelikt 1, 2 and 3 models (serial number U5+)
• 2007 – Derelikt 1, 2 and 3 models (serial number U6+)
• 2008 – Derelikt 1, 2 and 3 models (serial number U7+)
The serial numbers can be found under the bottom bracket shell of the frame.
The affected bicycles were available for retail sale from 1 July 2005.
What to do:
Consumers should stop riding the bicycles immediately and contact their place of
purchase to arrange for a replacement frame to be ordered and delivered to the place
of purchase for refitting. All affected models will be replaced with a 2011 ABD Flow
aluminium frame. Replacement frames are expected to arrive in store by mid July.
You will be contacted when the frames arrive in store to arrange a time for fitting. The
replacement frame will be fitted at Avanti’s cost.
This recall has been undertaken to ensure the safety of our customers as an ongoing
commitment to maintain the highest possible standards of safety and product
enjoyment at all times.
